ON THE TRAIL

Monday, May 7, 2012
We had so much fun on Saturday morning doing the Garage Sale Trail with our beautiful friends Georgina and Kenya ....
we chose the Surry Hills / Darlinghurst area, but it is actually a nationwide day ...
Garage Sale Trail looks at making sustainability both fun & social by encouraging individuals and groups to clear out some unwanted clutter, meet their neighbors, grab a bargain and even make some extra money .....
such a great idea and who doesn't love a garage sale !!!

Here's some pics from our morning .....

unfortunately this great old couch already had a sold sign on it ....

Kenya having a little rest in-between sales ......

.... a very nice morning indeed !!!

Hope you had a nice weekend

SNOW IN NEW YORK !!!

Sunday, October 30, 2011
My beautiful friend, who is spending two months in New York sent me this photo today ...
I'm so happy she gets to see snow on her first trip to New York !!!

ONE CLEVER TWELVE YEAR OLD

Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Let me introduce you to the works of my little friend Kenya ....
Kenya has just celebrated her 12th birthday and recently moved back to Australia after living in the USA for the past six years .... (to say she is happy to be back in Australia is probably a bit of an understatement) .... Kenya left Sydney when she was in Kindergarten, so it's lovely for her to be back, starting a new school, making new friends and exploring her home town through her much older (and very wise) eyes !!!

When I first visited Kenya and her lovely mum Georgina in their apartment (Georgina has the always inspiring BRYDIEBROWN blog) I fell in love with the little sculpture in the first pic (before I even knew Kenya had made it) ... isn't he just adorable, I've already put my order in for one !!!
Not to mention this divine paper mache donkey, which Georgina has very cleverly mounted on the wall .....

.... and this girl even makes jewelry,
each bead on this necklace is handmade from clay then baked hard and threaded on leather string ...
Oh, and she even has her own blog .....

The divine Miss Kenya  ...
One clever twelve year old indeed !!!

ONE OF THOSE DAYS

Thursday, June 23, 2011
I was having one of those very "shitty" days the other day, you know the kind where you are just overwhelmed by everything (even things that would not normally have that effect) ... the tears were flowing, I was letting it all out to my husband on the phone, then there was a knock at the door, it was a very, very special friend dropping off this beautiful "tussie mussie" of fresh herbs with a little card  .... totally unaware of my state, until she saw my teary face ...
It was one of those "just because" gifts that happened to come at just the right moment,
some friends are just angels in disguise.

The funny thing was as I was answering the door to my friend, cradling the phone to my ear with tears streaming down my face, my little neighbor Jack was also on his way to the door to borrow some foil for his mum .... he saw a lady delivering "flowers", saw my tears, ran home and told his mum something really bad must have happened, it all would have looked like quite the scene, my neighbor rings in a panic, I had to tell her everything was fine and to tell Jack that I was just having a bit of a "Drama Queen" moment .... which she could completely relate too (I love my neighbor) .....
Anyway ... the day ended well, my husband came home, we took the dogs for a late walk, used some of the herbs in our dinner, watched a funny show on TV and the world was looking a lot brighter ....
Oh, and Jack came back and got his foil too !!!
